This Cookie Policy explains how Lovio Ltd ("Lovio", "we", "us" or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit lovio.co.uk.
It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains more generally how we collect, use and protect personal information.
1. What are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookies are small pieces of information that websites can store on your device and access when you use the website.
Websites may also use similar technologies, such as local storage and session storage, which can perform similar functions.
These technologies can be used to:
- make a website work correctly;
- remember items in a shopping basket;
- retain checkout information;
- keep someone signed in;
- remember privacy preferences;
- improve website functionality;
- measure how a website is used; and
- measure the effectiveness of advertising.
In this policy, we refer to cookies and similar browser-storage technologies collectively as cookies and similar technologies.
2. How we use cookies
We use two broad categories of technologies.
Essential technologies
These are used where necessary to:
- provide functionality requested by you;
- operate our website;
- maintain your shopping basket or checkout;
- authenticate signed-in users; or
- remember your privacy choices.
Where an applicable legal exemption allows us to use these technologies without consent, they are available regardless of whether you accept non-essential cookies.
Non-essential technologies
These are used for purposes including:
- website analytics;
- advertising measurement;
- understanding the effectiveness of our marketing; and
- optional website functionality.
Our current configuration does not activate these technologies until you have chosen to accept non-essential cookies.
If you decline non-essential cookies, you can still use the main functions of the Lovio website and purchase our services.
3. Essential technologies
The following technologies are used to provide core functions of the Lovio website.
| Technology | Purpose | When used | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| cookie_consent | Remembers whether you have accepted or declined non-essential cookies so that we can respect your choice and do not repeatedly ask for the same preference. | When you interact with our cookie controls. | 180 days from your most recent cookie choice. After this period, you will be asked to make your cookie choices again. |
| lovio-cart | Remembers your basket, wedding date and checkout information, including information you enter such as your name, email address, telephone number and address. This allows your order to survive a page reload, navigating between pages or using the Back button. | When you use our booking, basket or checkout functionality. | 30 days from the last change to your basket or checkout information. Each relevant change restarts the 30-day period. |
sb-…-auth-token |
Authenticates signed-in customers and administrators and maintains their sign-in session so they do not need to sign in again on every page. | Only when a user signs in. | Until the user signs out or the session is otherwise invalidated. |
These technologies are not used for advertising or analytics.
4. Non-essential functionality
With your consent, we may use browser storage to improve optional website functionality.
| Technology | Purpose | When used | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| lovio_reminder_shown | Remembers that the wedding-date reminder has already been displayed so that the same reminder is not repeatedly shown during the same visit. | Only after you have accepted non-essential cookies and the reminder has been displayed. | For the current browser/tab session. It is cleared when the tab is closed. |
This technology is not used for advertising, analytics or cross-site tracking.
It is only activated after consent has been given.
5. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the Lovio website.
Google Analytics is only activated after you have chosen to accept non-essential cookies.
Google Analytics may set the following cookies:

We use Google Analytics to understand information such as:

- how visitors interact with our pages; and
- general website usage and performance.
We use this information to understand and improve the Lovio website and customer journey.
Google Analytics is not activated until you have accepted non-essential cookies.
6. Meta Pixel
We use the Meta Pixel to measure the effectiveness of advertising delivered through services such as Facebook and Instagram.
The Meta Pixel is only activated after you have chosen to accept non-essential cookies.
The Meta Pixel may use the following cookies:

8. Stripe payments
Lovio uses Stripe to process payments.
Stripe does not set its payment cookies on lovio.co.uk as part of the technologies listed in this policy.
When you choose to make a payment, you may leave the Lovio website and use a payment page provided by Stripe.
Stripe may use cookies and similar technologies on its own payment service for purposes including:
- processing payments;
- maintaining security;
- preventing fraud; and
- operating its payment service.
Those technologies are controlled through Stripe's service and are subject to Stripe's own privacy and cookie information.
They are therefore not included in the Lovio cookie tables above.
9. Giving or refusing consent
When you first visit our website, you are given a choice about the use of non-essential technologies.
Unless an applicable legal exemption applies, we do not activate non-essential analytics, advertising or optional functionality technologies before you have provided the required consent.
You can decline non-essential technologies and continue to use the core functionality of the Lovio website.
Declining non-essential cookies does not prevent essential technologies from being used where they are necessary to provide functions you request.
10. Remembering your choice
When you make a cookie choice, we use the cookie_consent technology to remember it.
Your choice is retained for 180 days.
After 180 days, we will ask you to make your cookie choices again.
If you made a cookie choice before the introduction of the current 180-day retention period, the 180-day period may begin from your next visit.
You may also be asked to make a new choice earlier where appropriate, for example if we materially change the technologies we use or the purposes for which we use them.
11. Changing or withdrawing your consent
You can change or withdraw your cookie choices at any time using the Cookie Preferences control available on our website.
Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that lawfully took place before consent was withdrawn.
After you withdraw consent, technologies requiring that consent will not be activated for future use on the relevant browser or device.
You can also delete existing cookies and stored website information through your browser settings.
Deleting your cookies may cause the Lovio cookie banner to appear again and may also remove information such as your stored basket or sign-in session.
12. Google and Meta
Some of the non-essential technologies used by Lovio are provided by third parties.
Our current third-party analytics and advertising providers include:
- Google, through Google Analytics; and
- Meta, through the Meta Pixel.
When you consent to these technologies, information generated through their use may be made available to the relevant provider.
Those providers may process information in accordance with their own privacy information and the contractual arrangements governing Lovio's use of their services.
For more information about how Lovio handles personal information and international transfers, please see our Privacy Policy.
13. Personal information stored in your browser
Some Lovio browser-storage technologies may contain personal information.
In particular, lovio-cart may retain information you have entered during the booking or checkout process, including:
- your name;
- email address;
- telephone number;
- address;
- wedding date;
- basket contents; and
- other checkout information.
This information is retained in order to prevent your basket and checkout progress from being lost if you reload the website, navigate between pages or return to the checkout.
The information is removed from this browser storage 30 days after the last relevant change, unless it is removed sooner.
Changing your basket or checkout information restarts this 30-day period.
You can also remove this information by clearing the relevant website data through your browser.
More information about how Lovio handles personal information is available in our Privacy Policy.
