Setup & Use Instructions

Guidance on how to setup and use the cameras.

Unboxing VlogBox? Start here!

Thank you for booking VlogBox! Your wedding day is just around the corner.

Follow the below instructions to test the cameras and think about how to capture your day.

Seeing as you might be a little busy getting married on the day, share this info with whoever might be doing most of the filming, like a bridesmaid or groomsman.

That's it! Have a really fun time and come back here when it's time to pack up and return the cameras.

If you run into any issues and can't find the answer here, please get in touch.

How to use the cameras

Setup: Magnetically attach the camera to the top of the handle and push down until you hear a 'click'. The camera should now be attached to the handle. Plug the cable into the side of the camera.

Power on: Press and hold the power button on the side of the camera to power it on. Press and hold the power button on the side of the handle to power it on. With both on, the handle will extend the battery life of the camera significantly. If you find the camera running out of charge, check the handle is powered on and connected.

Recording: Press the red button on the camera or handle. A red box with timer will appear in the top left corner to signify it is recording and the video duration.

Stop & power off: Press the record button again to stop the recording. Hold the power button on the camera to turn it off. You don't need to power off the handle.

Tripod: Pull the two legs from the handle and place on a flat surface. Tilt the camera for the correct angle

Adjusting the camera's angle: You can tilt and turn the camera to your preferred position. Be careful to not over twist the cable. It should not be wrapped around the handle.

Settings: The cameras will arrive with the best settings for filming weddings already set. Do not change them or this may cause issues with your footage. This includes the camera modes and zoom. Do not zoom (the option for this is in the bottom right corner of the screen and should display 1.0x.) This is a digital zoom and reduces the video quality when you zoom in, often making the footage unusable, especially in low light conditions. If you need to zoom, get physically closer.

How to use the microphones

Setup: Open the case and remove the microphone. It should have a blue flashing light. If not, press and hold the power button on the side until it does.

Connecting: The microphones hold automatically pair to camera 1 when removed from the case. A green line is shown at the top of the screen when connected.

Attach: Clip the mic to the lapel or clothing 8-12 inches from the mouth. If recording guest messages with the mics, we suggest clipping the mic to something larger to use handheld, like a spoon.

Record: The audio will be recorded to camera 1 when it is recording and within line of sight of the mic. If camera 1 isn't recording then no audio is being recorded.

Removal: Unclip the mics and return to the case.

Usage tips: You can use just one, or both mics simultaneously. We suggest asking the registrar, celebrant, vicar etc. to wear one and for one of the couple to wear the other.

For speeches, each person speaking should wear a mic, swapping between people when there are more than two speeches.

The mics will remain connected to the camera until returned to their case. If you remove the mic and don't put it back in it's case but keep recording on the camera, you will still only hear the audio from the mini mic. Once the mics are back in their box, they will disconnect from the camera and you'll be recording audio from the built-in mic on the camera again.

How to capture your wedding day

It's up to you what and how you would like to film, but here's some general advice to get the best out of your videos.

You’re the storyteller

No need for fancy shots, just capture the moments as they happen. Keep it fun, relaxed, and natural. You can start filming the day before or first thing in the morning.

Essential Filming Tips

✔ Keep it steady – Use the built-in tripod or hold the camera steady.

✔ Get close (but not too close) – Better sound & video quality when you’re nearer the action, but not so much when you're up someone's nose!

✔ Find the light – Bright, natural light is best. Keep the light behind the camera, not the subject.

✔ Film plenty – More clips = more memories. The couple can always choose later!

✔ Mix it up – Capture wide shots (whole scene), medium shots (people), and close-ups (rings, reactions, details).

✔ Clean the lens - During a busy day the camera lens can get fingerprints and dirt on it, give it a wipe once in a while to keep your videos looking their best.

Vlogging Tips

Talk to the camera! Imagine you’re FaceTiming a friend—describe what’s happening, share reactions, or ask guests questions or leave messages for the couple.

Film people, not just things. The couple will love seeing guests having fun, not just décor.

Pass it around! The best footage comes from different perspectives, so share the camera!

Ceremony & Speeches

These are some of the most important moments, so set up early and get it right!

It's best to ask a groomsman to do this, as they'll typically be waiting around in the ceremony venue.

Before the Ceremony or Speeches Start

✔ Clip the wireless microphones onto one of the couple, the officiant or other people speaking.

✔ Set up Camera 1 on its tripod with a clear, static view of the couple. (The signing table is perfect for ceremonies)

✔ Camera 2 can be handheld or placed for a second angle (guests’ reactions, close-ups).

✔ Remember people will often stand up for key parts of the ceremony, so place the camera where it won't be blocked as soon as people stand.

How to Film

Start recording on both cameras before the ceremony/speeches begin - don’t stop until it’s over!

After the ceremony, retrieve the microphones and return them to the case and stop the recordings.

Reminders

✔ Battery & Storage – Keep an eye on the battery & space (top of the screen), ensuring the handle is turned on if battery is running low.

✔ Avoid overheating – Don’t leave cameras in direct sunlight for long.

✔ Not waterproof! Keep away from heavy rain & drinks.

✔ Mics are small — don’t lose them! Return them to the case after the ceremony & speeches.

Have fun, capture real moments, and don’t be afraid to be on camera! Hit record and get married! Good Luck!

Returning Your VlogBox

Here's how to send your VlogBox back

Preparing Your Equipment for Return

Remove the camera from the handle: Unplug the cable from the camera. Squeeze the small tabs either side at the base of the camera. Pull the camera up and away from the handle.

Return everything to the box:

Ensure the two microphones are in their case and place the case in the box.

Ensure the two cameras are powered off and place in the case.

Place the two handles in the case. In opposite directions (top and tailing) with the cable facing upwards works best.

Ensure nothing is sticking out over the edge of the case and close the case.

Closing the case: With everything inside the box, push down on both latches firmly to close the box.

Return Instructions

1. Ensure all equipment is in the box. (No need to return paperwork or packaging.)
